Quintana is an incorporated Gulf Coast town just south of Freeport, with Quintana Beach County Park, the jetty, fishing areas, and the Neotropical Bird Sanctuary forming part of its current coastal identity. A scrape or small cut from a day near the shoreline may not seem especially concerning at first. The picture changes when a wound that contacted coastal water becomes more painful, swollen, warm, discolored, or begins leaking fluid.
With a coastal wound, it helps to tell the physician where the injury happened and whether it contacted salt or brackish water. That exposure can change which infections need to be considered, even though most cuts do not become serious infections. At Angleton ER, the physician can examine the wound and determine whether cleaning, medication, lab testing, imaging, or other treatment is medically appropriate.
